From Finland to Alicante – The Best Part Wasn't the Job

I came here planning to write about work, but after thinking about it, I realized that's not what changed my life the most.

I'm a ship model designer from Turku, Finland. I create detailed scale models for museums, collectors, and maritime exhibitions. Earlier this year I relocated to Alicante after accepting a position with a company specializing in historical marine displays.

Before moving, I found my apartment through https://alegria-realestate.com/, and everything was arranged before I even boarded the plane. That made the transition incredibly smooth.

The work is exactly what I hoped for—interesting projects, skilled colleagues, and plenty of opportunities to learn. But what surprised me most was how quickly Alicante started feeling like home. Morning walks by the marina, local cafés where people already know my name, and weekends exploring nearby coastal towns have become part of my routine.

Sometimes a relocation isn't just about advancing your career. Sometimes it's about finding a place where everyday life simply feels better.
