Working from Malaga for a year - what I would tell my past self
I moved from Madrid to Malaga last spring, mostly because our team went fully remote and I stopped seeing the point of paying Madrid rent.
What I got wrong: I assumed a coastal city would be cheaper across the board. Rent is, slightly. Buying is not, at least not near the centre. And the good listings disappear in days, while agency sites keep showing them for months. I wasted two trips on flats that had been sold before I even called. https://spain-real.estate/ was where what I clicked on still existed, so I stopped booking pointless viewings.
Ended up in Teatinos, ten minutes from nothing glamorous, but I can walk to the office we rent twice a month. If you are considering the same move: decide first how often you actually need to be in the city, everything else follows from that.
