Canggu or Sanur when you actually have to work, my two years of both
I am from Denpasar and I do remote support for a logistics company, so my working day is fixed hours and I need internet that does not die. Two years I tried both sides of the island properly, one year each.
Canggu: everything for work is there, cafes, coworking, people you can ask. But from December the traffic on Batu Bolong is not a joke, twenty minutes becomes fifty, and in high season the landlord tells you the price for one year went up because "villa season". My electricity bill was also bigger because you sit with the air conditioner from ten to six.
Sanur: quieter, internet more stable in my experience, hospital close, and long rentals are calmer because the market there is families and older expats, not monthly tourists. The problem is the evening. At nine everything closes and if you want people you drive.
I was comparing the year price for both areas on https://bali.realestate/ for a long time and the gap on a proper annual lease is smaller than everybody says in the groups. What is not smaller is the transport cost and the time.
I stayed in Sanur. Every Saturday I drive to Canggu anyway, so my wife says I pay for two places.
